Picture yourself gliding along the majestic Danube, where each river bend unfolds Europe's vibrant history and culture. My Avalon cruise was an odyssey through time—where grand castles, abbeys, and lively cities enriched our journey. From Vienna's elegant charm to Budapest's dazzling lights, each day blossomed with discovery and awe.

I started in Vienna. Attending the five-day ASTA River Cruise Expo deepened my connection and relationships with the river cruise world, honing insights to enrich my clients' travel experiences. Beyond the expo, I experienced a picturesque carriage ride of the old city and a visit to Empress Elisabeth of Austria's manor, painted vivid stories of the past.

When the conference ended, I boarded the Avalon Illumination, which became an eight-day embrace of enchantment. Our first stop was Grein, with a tour led by the castle's count, whose family has owned it since the 1600s. Linz offered a gateway to Salzburg, delivering the "The Sound of Music" dream into reality and tantalizing taste buds with pretzels, meats, cheeses, and beer.

Krems revealed hidden treasures, while Melk showcased its breathtaking Abbey, brought to life by tales of its thousand-year history. In Slovakia, a 300-year-old winery shared its robust wine stories amidst echoes of communist resilience. 

Sailing into Budapest by night, the illuminated Hungarian Parliament Building drew gasps from all as it cast its magical glow. Our journey's end in Budapest was the perfect crescendo to an extraordinary adventure. Avalon's remarkable organization, spacious quarters, and unmatched comfort made this journey luxuriously memorable.
